Dr Paul Rolfe studied medicine at Jesus College, University of Cambridge.

He completed specialist training in anaesthesia in East Anglia and London. He has completed advanced training in pain medicine and paediatric anaesthesia, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal college of Anaesthetists (FRCA) and Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FFPMRCA). He was appointed as a substantive consultant at Addenbrooke’s hospital in 2007 and divides his clinical time between pain medicine and paediatric anaesthesia. He has a large adult pain practice, performing specialist minimally invasive treatments like epidurals and nerve blocks for pain conditions such as lower back pain and sciatica. He has also undertaken subspecialty training in paediatric pain and is one of a few national specialists in this field.

Dr Paul Rolfe is the chair of the paediatric pain working group for the Faculty of Pain Medicine and also sits on their training and competency committee. He is currently the educational supervisor for pain medicine at Addenbrooke’s and lead clinician for paediatric pain. He has previously worked as an associate and examiner for the General Medical Council.

Having graduated as a doctor (BMBS) in 1998, I then proceeded to complete specialist training in Anaesthesia (FANZCA) and further sub-specialty training in Pain Medicine (FFPMRCA Ass). My training has been completed in Melbourne, Australia and both London and Cambridge in the UK.

I am a current Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and a member of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. I have been working in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, CUHFT since 2008, becoming a Consultant in 2010.

My clinical interest is in managing patients with Spine pain, Musculo-skeletal pain, Abdominal pain, Pelvic pain (male and female), Joint pain, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and widespread pain conditions such as Fibromyalgia.
